Users criticized Anthropic for removing Fable 5 from subscriptions and limiting frontier LLM access as it widens inequality between ordinary users and elites, while some remained optimistic about competition and open-source development.
Fable 5 might actually be sabotaging your code lmao

well at least in the near future
as the screenshot shows they clearly still want to give you access *sometime* but who knows when that is

@scaling01 Don't worry. Competition is coming.

@scaling01 Competition in the AI field will certainly keep pushing the bar higher and higher, and if Anthropic limits its AI, someone else will do the opposite.

@scaling01 fwiw Boris Cherny just addressed the subscription part — the plan IS to keep Fable 5 in subscriptions, they're being extra conservative at launch because demand is hard to forecast. free until June 22, then credits while they scale. less underclass, more rate-limiting.

@malvathar @scaling01 What fcked up world we live in, where sama is actually the "good" guy 😭

@scaling01 As for costs, it’s only a matter of time: the growth of computing capacity, chip power, and the reduction of the related costs over time will make these technologies increasingly accessible.

@PaulC85_ @scaling01 Don't you think those of which you mentioned can be monopolized as well?

@scaling01 Yeah
“Class in session”
Under Over Just a lil bitch trying to byte me
“Hey hounds?”
Yuo
Yeah

@devops_arif @scaling01 Personally, I believe that we ordinary people would only get a distilled version of AI.

@scaling01 I will remain so very low bar.
So low a dumpster could not light me a blaze.
Weight them all out.
“Bitch I ain’t a sucker”

@scaling01 open-source will push it anyways

@scaling01 the capacity constraint is a real infrastructure problem. the capability throttling for frontier LLM work is a different thing entirely - that's anthropic deciding who gets to compete with anthropic

@scaling01 A lot of bad comments after usage

@scaling01 the have vs have not problem is big right now with ai

@wyqtor @scaling01 Sama and Elon are our only hope at this point. I would include Gemini but after the 3.5 Flash mess of a model idk anymore. And yeah Grok 4.3 is trash too but the 6t and 10t models are cooking so we will see.

@scaling01 its over for us beta-underclass-man

@scaling01 Halt Halt Halt
“Who goes there?”
“There are no terms there is no system and not a single billable hour … good judgement have mercy upon me”
Am not the type to beg for myself.

@scaling01 deliberately degrading outputs for certain use cases while charging full price is a new tier of product honesty

@devops_arif @scaling01 The truly game-changing models, the ones capable of genuinely shifting the balance of power, in my view will never be made available to all of us (unfortunately, that’s the greedy-egoic nature of human beings: a few command, many are commanded :/)
