Here is my 5-★ Amazon review of the book...
"All the world is a graph" was not said by Shakespeare, but by me. However, he could have said that instead of saying "All the world's a stage" because a Shakespearian stage play is usually all about characters (entities) and their relationships (edges) = a social graph! So, the reason that I said it is because the world is universally all about entities and their relationships - graphs - across and within nearly all domains!
Hence, it is only natural that we are seeing more and more emphasis on graphs in databases, machine learning (ML), and deep learning. Also, we should never forget that the mathematical foundation that skyrocketed Google to top search engine status over 25 years ago was a graph algorithm, PageRank, along with its graph properties of Centrality and Authority. Add additional graph properties (like shortest path, closeness, betweenness, community detection) and you will appreciate the depth and richness of graph models for discovery and insights.
This new book is an outstanding contribution in the field of Graph Machine Learning. There are many fantastic and important topics covered in this book, including: (a) GNN (Graph Neural Networks), which are akin to CNN (convolutional neural networks) except that the static neighborhood convolution kernel used in the CNN is replaced by the graph concept of linked (non-Euclidean) neighborhood; (b) special graph autocoder embeddings like Edge2Vec, Node2Vec, and Graph2Vec (similar to Word2Vec); (c) real-world graph ML applications (existing and emerging); (d) temporal graph ML; (e) financial fraud detection; (f) combining GraphML and LLMs; (g) graphs as predictors (e.g., for causal inference); and so much more.
If this sounds too advanced for you, then the book is still right for you, by providing excellent illustrated approaches to all of the above topics plus beginning with a great "Getting Started" introduction to graphs.
I highly recommend this book for everyone, because... all the world is a graph.
