UK Legal Aid Agency breach included records dating back to 1978

SecurityWeek reports that an October 2026 Legal Aid Agency update expanded the known scope of its April 2025 breach. Most compromised records concern applications, claims and payments submitted between 2007 and 2025, but approximately 250,000 predate 2007; the earliest verified record dates to 1978. The agency also says attackers exfiltrated data on a relatively small number of probation service users and has no evidence the stolen information was released publicly or sold.
