OpenAI Links Codex Usage Complaints to Sub2api Abuse
Tibo explains inconsistent Codex limits after checking reports and announces a user milestone.
Tibo, an OpenAI Codex engineer, posted that his team investigated reports of varying usage limits. Many affected accounts turned out to be using sub2api to convert ChatGPT subscriptions into API traffic for reselling or sharing. In a separate post he stated that Codex reached 20 million active users during the week. To mark the milestone OpenAI credited every Codex and ChatGPT Work user with a banked reset usable at their own pace. Several users replied about token consumption or the value of the reset.
