Nvidia Invests $3.5 Billion in MediaTek for AI Chips

Nvidia is investing $3.5 billion in MediaTek to expand collaboration on custom AI accelerators for data centers. MediaTek will adopt NVLink Fusion to connect its chips to Nvidia systems. The agreement also covers personal computers and automotive platforms. Outlets including CNBC, Quartz and Tom's Hardware report that MediaTek shares climbed 10 percent after the announcement. The deal aligns with Nvidia's effort to gain more control over pieces of the AI infrastructure stack.
