16-year-old Broadcom Wi-Fi flaws could let nearby attackers hijack routers
The Register reports Kaiser demonstrated exploits on Belgian routers and estimates roughly 1.56 million could be affected there.
TLDR
The Register reports researcher Quentin Kaiser found two bugs in Broadcom's Wi-Fi software dating to at least 2010. He demonstrated that a nearby attacker could send crafted messages to run code on a router without its Wi-Fi password. Kaiser says a 2018 fix was incomplete and that none of the affected devices he identified had been patched as of October 15. He has not reported evidence of attacks in the wild.
