Many users reacted negatively to Meta's Arena prediction market app because they see it as predatory normalization of gambling targeted at young adults and a continuation of unfocused money-losing projects.

My impression of Meta is that it just wants to do to many things at the same time, but it’s hard to see true commitment in any of them. Latest ones:

And don’t get me wrong there’s investment and commitment in all of these, but I just don’t feel it’s anything but an experiment without too much at stake… ads revenue will fund them, and that’s about it.
Tbh much of Google’s products feel like this, except Google does have long-running, well maintained and popular ones. Eg Android, Maps, Gmail, Google Workspace, Chrome etc
