It's weird that both OpenAI and Anthropic are now insisting that they try hard not to displace jobs when that's obviously false, and also is not something that is normally expected of companies ethically speaking.
You can warn people, shape policy etc. without overclaiming...
Users criticize OpenAI and Anthropic's job displacement claims as insincere while questioning their framing of obvious API developments.
E.g. it's been known for years that API-based deployment is predictably much more "substitute-y" and first party chatbot-based deployment is more "augment-y."
Neither company dropped their API, and I doubt either ever seriously considered it either.
