🧵Just a few weeks ago I had a conversation about AI Overviews being potentially litigated. It is not sufficient to make a small-font disclaimer that AI makes mistakes.
The broader point is not limited to Google. Any company building AI-generated answer systems should assume that users, regulators, and courts may treat synthesized answers differently from ordinary links. Once a system turns retrieved information into a declarative claim, disclaimers alone may not be enough; source fidelity, claim-level grounding, and careful product design become central.↩️
