@BrianRoemmele @elonmusk Typical introductory rate tactic used by banks for ages to lure customers, before dropping the rate when they reach their deposit goal. Offers rarely last more than 6-9 months. Then they spawn a new account type for new customers with a high rate, dropping rates on the old one.

My analysis at the time: it's only sustainable as a challenger market entry tactic. The math was abysmal. (Though rates are higher now.) As for SpaceX subsidy...I'm dubious. This is a good history on the subject.
