Soundscape launches as a free open-source Mac mixer for Apple’s Background Sounds

Flavio Copes has released Soundscape, a free open-source Mac app designed to mix Apple’s built-in macOS Background Sounds, which normally play only one at a time. The app’s GitHub README says users can run multiple sounds simultaneously, set separate volume levels, control playback from the menu bar and get gapless looping. It also claims support for all 16 Apple Background Sounds, including eight added in macOS Tahoe, while running on macOS 15 Sequoia or later on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The README adds that Soundscape does not bundle audio files, instead playing the same files macOS uses and downloading missing sounds from Apple’s servers when a user requests them.
