OpenAI annual recurring revenue reportedly nears $70 billion

OpenAI’s annual recurring revenue is nearing $70 billion, Axios reported, citing sources familiar with the company’s financials.

According to Axios, OpenAI’s annualized revenue run rate has grown by more than 70% since the beginning of the third quarter, reaching almost $70 billion. The outlet also reported that the company’s business-to-business revenue has grown by more than 100% over the same period.

Axios said OpenAI also posted unusually strong consumer growth. The outlet reported that OpenAI added more revenue on the consumer side during the third quarter than it added during all of 2025.

Axios further wrote that rival Anthropic has owned enterprise AI adoption, but that OpenAI has been catching up.

The report leaves a major financial question unresolved. Axios said it could not immediately learn details about OpenAI’s expenses, an important missing piece for understanding the company’s broader business picture.
