Many users dismissed the Cloudflare CEO's claim that AI will destroy small businesses as insulting or self-serving, while some saw AI as an enabler that could help adapting small businesses outperform others.

implicitly or explicitly, that’s got to be the hope of the big players.

@axios @inafried @Cloudflare @eastdakota or

@GaryMarcus And has been for a while. How many years now have the top companies started by operating at a loss for years in order to prevent competition? The only way they could do was by having *really, really* big whales in the background feeding them money. Open Conspiracy.

@axios @Cloudflare @eastdakota mr popular over here

@axios @eastdakota @Cloudflare Oh man I saw it as the opposite. Prior to these LLM agents, only the biggest companies could afford data scientists to run all sorts of experiments and get an edge.
The proliferation of these capable models are allowing small businesses to do things they could have never dreamed

@axios @Cloudflare @eastdakota AI is more likely to compress margins than outright destroy small businesses across the board

@axios @zerohedge @Cloudflare @eastdakota Exactly what the BigTech overlords want.

@axios @eastdakota @Cloudflare Why are these tech leaders so hell bent on this destruction message? I truly don’t get it. Shouldn’t they all be selling a positive future for small business? Wild disconnect.

@empathyx100 @axios @Cloudflare I am optimistic about a lot of the future! Actually see a bright future for media. We have no model. Our customers are largely (by number) SMBs. I don’t think anyone sounding the warning siren. Think there are solutions, but we need to be talking about them.

@axios @Cloudflare @eastdakota People are just… not going to use “agents” to do everything. That’s not going to happen. These people have all crawled so far up their own asses they think shit doesn’t stink.

@axios @Cloudflare @eastdakota "yeah man my business is going to make all other business obsolete"

@nathanbenaich @axios @Cloudflare Said no one ever.

@axios @Cloudflare @eastdakota He might be slightly dramatic, but honestly, the pressure AI puts on small businesses is already intense. It's less "destroy" and more "force a brutal evolution."

@axios @Cloudflare @eastdakota Revolutionary take here.
And we look forward to him and others doing absolutely fuck all to stop it.

@axios @eastdakota @Cloudflare Glad we’re arming the rebels at http://autohive.com

@axios @Cloudflare @eastdakota The amount of people that respond without even watching a 15 SECOND VIDEO to understand the message they are yapping about in response ls simply amazing.

the CEO predicting AI destroys small businesses cut 20% of his own workforce in may.
$NET insiders filed the take before the panel did.
946 Form 4 transactions. all code S. zero code P. $843M net out.
Prince sold. Zatlyn sold $5.6M in june alone. CFO sold. not one insider writing a personal check at any price.
the prediction is the cover page. the Form 4s are the exhibit.

@axios @Cloudflare @eastdakota Some, certainly.
Also plenty of mid sized service providers (e.g. accountants, legal services).
Your corner sweet shop or vinyl store should be safe as they deal in physical things

@itsLIRAN @axios @eastdakota @Cloudflare I work at a small business and I totally agree. I used to think I needed to become a data scientist myself to get to work on the fun/hard problems that they'd do at bigger companies. Now I see I can quickly run meaningful experiments and contribute in new ways at small companies.

@axios @zerohedge @Cloudflare @eastdakota No it isnt, he is completely underestimating the cost and time to do everything but coding
