Uber and Wayve Launch Robotaxis in London

The Verge reported that Uber and Wayve are rolling out robotaxi services in London. The vehicles lack lidar sensors and run without a geofence. Human safety drivers remain aboard for the first stage of the launch. The coverage states this positions Uber ahead of Waymo as the first to begin such operations in the city. The report stresses that the service is not driverless despite the other technical choices.
