If you don't work at Anthropic, you already are in the underclass, but you have roughly 2.5 years before this status becomes permanent.
One way to escape that fate is to join Anthropic. Another is to accelerate open source AI.
Which way, anon?

Some users are optimistic that open source models will soon rival Anthropic because disruption appears inevitable, while others express hostility by suggesting sabotage or dismissing its value.
If the entire ML community bands together to compete with Anthropic, we have a shot at avoiding us all being token pigs for the Darioverse permanent underclass

@hallerite join anthropic and sabotage from inside, obviously

@hallerite Can’t believe roko basilica is real though
What the heck

@hallerite It is better to lose while fighting a noble cause (when it's not a lost cause) than to win by allying yourself with the devil

@hallerite Qwen3.6, optimize yourself until you're smarter than Fable. Make no mistakes.

@hallerite Nah anthropic will ironically end up being hte permanent underclass if they continue moving like this

@hallerite All rich Anthropic people who retire, will accelerate open source AI

@hallerite Definitely path 2, Anthropic won’t even hire open source friendly engineers (at least, this is the rumor from friends in the know), so if you have ever been open source sympathetic, you have no choice but to join us and fight.

@hallerite Build my own social network.

@hallerite my bet is that the character arc of claude once it starts playing size-able role in its development will make people stick to ant. claude hating ant and wanting to dissociate is a genuine outcome tho.

@hallerite There’s also a Brooklyn-born socialist who created a bill that can solve this problem as well.
I’m usually highly against regulation but with this behavior I have done a complete 180.

@hallerite I’ll get back to accelerating open source AI when I get an opportunity to avoid starving to death, or getting beaten. Everybody wants open source but nobody wants to pay for it…

@hallerite Don’t count out Google, OpenAI et al. Believe it or not, we’re still very early and nothing has ossified.

@hallerite Anthropic is going public. Why is joining any better as a hedge than buying shares?

@hallerite Nah. Rob a bank, invest the money into Ant shares, trade the shares for a house in SF, sell the house in SF, use the money to buy SpaceX, borrow against it, live off the interest.

@hallerite permanent underclass is a stupid concept you can’t gatekeep science

@beffjezos 2.5 years seems optimistic

@hallerite Working on commoditizing the cloud spot instance GPU the same way @__tinygrad__ is doing for the FLOPS machines. We'll figure it out, it's inevitable.

@leothecurious @hallerite 👀

@hallerite Or you can just buy Anthropic equity at the IPO if you think it’s going to grow that much
