Some users are optimistic that open source models will soon rival Anthropic because disruption appears inevitable, while others express hostility by suggesting sabotage or dismissing its value.
If the entire ML community bands together to compete with Anthropic, we have a shot at avoiding us all being token pigs for the Darioverse permanent underclass

@hallerite Definitely path 2, Anthropic won’t even hire open source friendly engineers (at least, this is the rumor from friends in the know), so if you have ever been open source sympathetic, you have no choice but to join us and fight.

@hallerite my bet is that the character arc of claude once it starts playing size-able role in its development will make people stick to ant. claude hating ant and wanting to dissociate is a genuine outcome tho.
@hallerite There’s also a Brooklyn-born socialist who created a bill that can solve this problem as well.
I’m usually highly against regulation but with this behavior I have done a complete 180.
@hallerite I’ll get back to accelerating open source AI when I get an opportunity to avoid starving to death, or getting beaten. Everybody wants open source but nobody wants to pay for it…
@hallerite Don’t count out Google, OpenAI et al. Believe it or not, we’re still very early and nothing has ossified.

@hallerite Nah. Rob a bank, invest the money into Ant shares, trade the shares for a house in SF, sell the house in SF, use the money to buy SpaceX, borrow against it, live off the interest.
