Apple’s iPhone Duo reportedly hits production snags ahead of October release
Apple’s iPhone Duo is reportedly running into manufacturing problems ahead of its October debut, with MacRumors citing supply-chain reporting that points to low assembly yields and constrained early availability.
TLDR
Apple’s iPhone Duo may arrive in limited numbers at launch. MacRumors reports, citing Jiemian News and supply-chain sources, that final assembly yields for Apple’s first foldable iPhone were only a little above 60% as of Sept. 17, with Foxconn still adjusting equipment and production settings. The report says Samsung Display’s foldable OLED panels and hinge parts have also faced low yields, delayed deliveries and design changes, adding pressure to the ramp. Under Apple’s current quality standards, one source said it could take six months to a year for the line to reach a mature yield. MacRumors also says Apple is targeting roughly 6 million to 8 million units for 2026, well below the 20 million to 30 million often shipped for a single Pro or Pro Max cycle.
