Many users criticize GPT-5.6 guardrails as making models unreliable or overly restrictive for real work and object to OpenAI's government ties, while others hope the update will improve coding without added refusals.

And we are still waiting for Gemini 3.5 pro, which I actually expected at the end of June.
The only question remaining now is: will GPT-5.6 also have guardrails as strict as Fable 5’s, or does OpenAI have better connections within the US government? We will find out very soon.

@kimmonismus new model benchmark: how strict the guardrails are.

@kimmonismus Probably next week. 🤔

@paradite_ What a time to be alive lol

@koltregaskes yeah, rumors are next week

@kimmonismus When is 5.6 predicted to drop?

@kimmonismus just had a random thought, would you rather have a slightly dumber model you can use freely, or a smarter one that keeps handing you off to something weaker?

@kimmonismus It seems google goona keep delaying their model

@kimmonismus I hope they let it code…

@Tozxart Exactly. But competition isn’t waiting

@kimmonismus Tbh im waiting for 4.5 already lol they are two versions behind

@kimmonismus if the US 5% stake thing gets through, a much smoother release than fable is what I strongly feel.

@orcus108 @kimmonismus If you want a dumb model that’s truly free, use a Gemma 4 abliterated model locally, or qwen. Even the “free” models online are not truly free once you start asking uncomfortable questions.

@sandislonjsak next thursday

@kimmonismus altman knows how to talk to people in high places in the non-tech world
it's part of why he's so successful
the scheming twink always delivers

@kimmonismus OpenAI has better safeguards. If you read the current model card, it’s basically a safety card (for now). On the exploitgym without Trusted Access for Cyber, GPT 5.5 scores 0%.

@kimmonismus Yet to run any guardrails myself.... shockingly lol. Especially given my actually unhinged and "low-character", shall we say, as fuck language and manner of speaking lol. I will say though it definitely, while loads smarter than mongus 4.8, has less wow-factor than first launch.

@kimmonismus will they release it tomorrow or next week? Sadly, I’m starting to think it’ll be next week because it’s the 4th of July this week, and next week all the Fable users will lose access since it won’t be included in the subscription anymore.

@kimmonismus I assume the newly proposed deal might help a bit. Lets see how that works out.

@kimmonismus It'll be interesting to compare the developer experience
