Mark Dredze posted that Evan Sponseller, a CS undergrad from Florida State, built an active learning system with Jaafar El-Awady that predicts alloy properties and selects parameters for the next experiment. He also posted that Sathvik Manikantan Napa Ugandhar, a CS grad student, is building an AI tool with Carl Latkin to improve screening instruments for mental health, substance use, climate change, and social support, with the goal of adding nuance to surveys while reducing clinician time.
