@natolambert Also because the Chinese startups don't have a choice! Their own country is such an insanely hostile business environment for them that they are basically forced to open source to get mind share/attention overseas. Chinese big corps won't buy from startups

Consolidation isn’t something that’ll happen rapidly (at least in the near term). Consolidation is one of those things that has been predicted since ChatGPT launched and never arrived. 2026 has been a remarkable year for open, the door to economic viability is open (if we can clear regulatory hurdles).
