LinkedIn adds peer checks for work history and company imposters

LinkedIn is testing peer-backed verification for work and education history, letting verified members confirm that they worked or studied with a connection. TechCrunch reports that people providing a confirmation must have a verified profile, a year-old connection and two-factor authentication. Verified company Pages can now remove known imposter accounts from company-linked search results, while a smaller pilot lets companies require workplace verification for new employee associations. The controls add trust signals but do not let a company rewrite the employment history shown on a member’s own profile.
