Séb Krier, Google DeepMind AGI policy lead, satirically proposes a global treaty banning intelligence to guarantee safety
Ramez Naam framed the satire as precautionary safety's logical limit

@sebkrier I feel like we already did that somewhere in the aughts
@sebkrier Logical end point of the precautionary principle.
imo we may as well go for a global treaty to ban intelligence altogether, just to be on the safe side. you'll note that without intelligence we would not have nukes or phones, just people (carefully) living in the moment

@sebkrier see what I mean

While at it, Why not just fully commit and devolve back into hunter-gatherers?
Im sure many of the anti-progress / Anti-Ai advocates won't miss their artisan crafted cold brew , or their Uber rides, Door-dash & Temu orders 🤔
Nor will they remember to reach out to the phones in their pockets to share their insightful life philosophies
After all, foraging berries is all you need...
/S , just in case it wasn't obvious

@sebkrier What would be so bad about a world without nukes or phones? 😂

@sebkrier Finally a movement I can get behind
