After a Raspberry Pi 5 reboot the Hermes gateway systemd service could lock users out by reusing the exact prior PID and clock tick, and a fix submitted by contributor @tharushka_sh has now been merged into the hermes-agent repo.

My Pi 5 crashed and rebooted, locking me out of Hermes because a systemd service spawned with the exact same boot PID & clock tick as the old gateway.
Just pushed a clean fix for the boot collision and it’s already merged! 🤝

The developer who diagnosed the collision was added to the project contributor group following the merge.
No details have surfaced yet on whether the fix uses PID files, clock randomization, or another instance check.

I am not trying to add 500 features a week friend, that's 8K LOC and we need to let old features settle and stabilize or we'll never be able to maintain this thing, alongside just 14000 PRs I have to review, things will take a good while to get reviewed, despite the pace we move at 🫡

@Teknium I know thats why i am shedding tears haha I see this everywhere in open source right now, really hard to get things merged anywhere. I even resorted to some forks for certain projects because i had to hit deadlines etc
