🚀 Today we’re introducing 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅: Learning Representation Programs for Retrieval. 🚀 AutoIndex learns executable programs that determine how a corpus is represented to a search engine. We think this points to a broader category of research: 𝗔𝗜 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.
I feel pretty skeptical of the utility of unconstrained autoresearch. This feels like the antithesis of my fears: well-scoped, informed, and interpretable. Very hopeful for the future of code as the first-class medium of search and agents a la AutoIndex, RLM, pplx's SAC.

Love to see this direction in search: much more flexible and expressive than standard approaches and quick to run! I’m sure we’ll see a lot of folks building in this direction. Congrats to the team @mrdrozdov and folks at @UMassAmherst!
