I get the fear from the ’merica feck yeah folks, and I’m also long US companies more than anything else, so would prefer the capital flow continues! But... The K3 timeline makes it hard to argue its progress was primarily from distillation of Fable or GPT Sol at least. On benchmarks and in early testing, K3 also matches or beats US frontier models on specific tasks. Trying to block US providers from hosting Chinese models will backfire by accelerating the adoption of Chinese open models and non-US infrastructure. The same basic risk created by gating access to US frontier models. Ultimately, the US still has to out-innovate China at the implementation layer and recursive model improvement.
