@alexolegimas that dial up modem sound tho--was gearing me up for smth incredible about to happen (most of time i used to get veery slow internet, downloading an mp3 in 5 mins was ultimate success in those days:)

6:52 AM · Jul 15, 2026This past weekend I found myself talking to a few people about AOL CDs we'd get in the mail, and that to get on the internet you'd need to install AOL, make sure no one was talking on the phone, and then dial up that 56kbps modem (if you were lucky) to watch an image slowly load on your blinking screen. One person in the conversation, who will remain unnamed (jk it was @jasminewsun) said: Alex, I have no idea what any of those words mean. And that's when I aged 20 years in a second.
