Apple's fourth-generation Apple TV 4K is available to preorder in the US for $299, with retail availability beginning November 13. The new model comes with 128GB of storage.
That price is the headline change. The Verge reports that $299 is more than twice the $129 launch price of the previous generation and $50 above the outgoing top model.
The new Apple TV 4K uses Apple's A19 chip and adds built-in far-field microphones, allowing hands-free Siri commands without speaking into the remote or a HomePod. Siri AI can handle natural-language searches and, when paired with an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone, use personal context for requests such as finding a show mentioned in a message.
Apple says Siri AI will launch in beta in English in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and India. The Verge notes that Siri's answers appear on screen rather than being spoken aloud.
The Siri Remote also gains Find My support. It can play a sound, while Bluetooth channel sounding lets a compatible iPhone help locate it more precisely.
The fourth-generation box adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 while retaining Ethernet, Thread, and Matter support. Apple says the A19 chip brings faster performance, though those gains have not yet been independently tested.
For home theater setups, the new model can pair with as many as four compatible speakers: four second-generation HomePods, four HomePod mini 2 speakers, or one pair of each. Apple says the speakers automatically calibrate to their position in the room.
The hardware upgrades turn the Apple TV 4K into a more capable smart-home and entertainment hub, but the $299 price puts it in a very different price bracket from the model it replaces.
