Apple announced an M6 iMac on Oct. 27, 2026. U.S. pricing starts at $1,499 for a model with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. A version with 12 cores of each starts at $1,699.
Apple calls its screen a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, though its listed diagonal measurement is 23.5 inches. The iMac comes in blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver. Jess Weatherbed of The Verge writes that the design appears largely unchanged from the previous model.
The upgrades depend on the configuration
Apple lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 across the new iMac lineup. It claims up to twice the graphics performance and SSD read and write speeds of the M4 iMac, based on its own testing. Its LM Studio prompt-processing result was up to five times faster than on the M4 iMac in that specific test.
Some options require the higher-priced hardware. Apple's specifications restrict optional 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet and nano-texture glass to models with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU. All four USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 4 on those models. Touch ID is standard on the 12-core model; buyers of the 10-core model can configure a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad. Apple also advertises support for up to two external 6K displays, without assigning that maximum to every configuration.
