A Samsung promotion for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 offered a choice between a straightforward price cut and a larger trade-in discount, but the offer described by ZDNET is no longer current.
ZDNET reported that Samsung reduced the 512GB model from $2,100 to $1,850, a $250 discount. Buyers with an eligible phone could instead receive up to $800 in trade-in credit, potentially bringing the price to $1,300.
The two discounts could not be combined. The maximum trade-in value depended on the model being returned, and ZDNET cautioned that only newer phones appeared likely to qualify for the full amount. Either route also included a $200 Samsung Credit that could be used on selected Galaxy Buds, watches and accessories in the same order, not toward the Fold 8 itself.
The timing is the decisive detail. ZDNET's page says Samsung's offer ran through September 21, 2026. A September 27 social post resurfaced the article after that deadline, but it did not establish that Samsung extended or revived the promotion.
ZDNET also discloses that an advertiser paid for editorial consideration of the deal, while saying its editors independently vetted the savings. Anyone shopping now should verify Samsung's current price and trade-in terms rather than relying on the expired figures.
