great read, spot on! the two comments on the substack also point to an interesting false dichotomy: we need individuality and personalization, but that doesn't make excellent, premium craft (one to many) irrelevant. maybe the best of these things are layered, and it would be fun to envision such a world: the world's most well-crafted calendar app / email client / recipe app etc..., but you can extend and make it your own. in some ways, they already are. LLMs have trained on prior art, so an LLM knows the basics of a good calendar app, and the individuality that comes from you is the top layer.
