Microsoft AI Releases First Reasoning Model MAI-Thinking-1
Microsoft AI CEO shared the release of the company's first reasoning model built from scratch.
Mustafa Suleyman posted that Microsoft AI's first reasoning model, MAI-Thinking-1, built from scratch, is now available in Microsoft Foundry. Several researchers replied noting its appearance in Azure AI catalog preview and requesting access details or wider testing options such as OpenRouter. Other users on X pointed out that the model and its paper with benchmarks had been announced over two months earlier, and asked whether the current version matches that earlier one.
Our first reasoning model, MAI-Thinking-1, is built from scratch. Now available in Microsoft Foundry. Kudos to the team! More below.
