TLDR

OpenAI's documentation says MCP Events lets ChatGPT subscribe to updates from an MCP server, such as new messages or document comments, and follow a user's instructions when they arrive. The feature is available in Work chats on ChatGPT web and in desktop Work chats with Cloud selected. One user argues event-driven triggers deserve more attention because most people's agents otherwise rely on scheduled runs or wait to be messaged.
