Sweeney says high-bandwidth local storage will bypass remote data centers.
Doesnt help that a large percentage of college graduates that are worthless. Even more so than they already were. We always say we need to boost ai to compete with China and yet China paused a ton of degree not related to AI. Are we doing that? No. Enjoy waiting tables and door dashing while you compete with ai and outsourcing which you'll also have to compete with in min wage jobs.
@TimSweeneyEpic And we'll run a micro kernel, and the entire UX and "apps" will be JITs. Will be amazingly freeing so everyone can solve problems, vs having to know all this quirky software engineering nonsense like today.
@TimSweeneyEpic Exactly competition is good for the entire ecosystem and customers
@zephyr_z9 Oh yeah, now I’m feeling it 🔥
@zephyr_z9 You still don’t see it do you
@zephyr_z9 looking forward to this day
I really hope this ever becomes real but the thing is, a wafer is a wafer, it has finite area we can tweak the architecture, but it'll be really hard to make terabytes of high-bandwidth memory for everyone
One element of the strange climate now is the scale and inaccessibility of data centers versus PCs. But post-memory-disruption, PCs will have 4TB+ of Flash storage with ultra high bandwidth and we'll just run these models locally and see they're no big deal.
