Few folks misunderstanding my point… - since distilling is pervasive in China, us models are going to have to distill, but it’s not clear US law lets them, maybe a govt agency or two makes it clear that distilling is fair use.. - i prefer open weights vs closed for digital ai but happy that there’s enough competition to let the market find the right answer - Chinese competition is making everyone better - folks may not love that but protectionism is a dead end for any model or country falling behind
Grey is not black and white… too much grey and you’re constantly looking over your shoulder… too little and maybe you haven’t pushed hard enough There is only so much grey you can have in your life… but If something that is grey turns black and white, then that allows you to go to the grey somewhere else
