@tobi With the new Catalog + UCP letting anyone build shopping experiences, builders will naturally surface products that offer affiliate revenue (aligned incentives). Making affiliate commissions native/easy for every merchant would create a massive flywheel, more products get featured by AI agents and third-party builders.
@tobi I just built Gifter: like Tinder, but for gifts 😆 It uses The Catalog API to swipe through gift ideas and find better matches. Still needs a bit more polish: user accounts, saving gifts for multiple people, and a few UX improvements, but the core is working.

The video is a CLI demo of Shopify's UCP (Universal Commerce Protocol, open std w/ Google). It searches the global catalog (billions of products) for "sporty sneakers around $200", shows results like Veloq Drift ($200.99) & Sivo ($199) w/ images/reviews, then creates cart + checkout for http://vesna.nyc.

@tobi right. the hard part: the api needs to be cheap enough that you actually make money using it. most fail that test.
@tobi So many shopifys can be created and offer the same service as you for 80% cheaper based on this one tool alone
