There are many factors contributing to people's receptiveness to the Demis Plan (perhaps most importantly, execs feeling the AGI + Trump admin chaos as the alternative), but one factor is that views of Demis have been steadily growing more positive over the past 10 years.
Perhaps hard for people to imagine now but in AI world, some people used to view Demis more like the way they see Sam today. Factors contributing to the shift: consistent views over time, not being in the lead as often as others, personal likability. Elon went the other way...
@Miles_Brundage I don't know if I just got inoculated against Silicon Valley doublespeak early or something, but it seemed obvious to me that Sam and Elon were orders of magnitude more slimy and dangerous than the people they were supposedly saving us from.
