Airbnb limits checkout chores for guests, sparking host backlash

TechCrunch reports Airbnb will bar hosts from requiring guests to strip beds, wash and put away dishes, start laundry or remove trash from the property for reservations made on or after November 20, 2026. Some hosts object, citing sanitation and the costs of preparing properties; one said the restrictions could prompt them to leave. Hosts may still ask guests to conserve water during droughts or use bear-proof trash containers where wildlife poses a risk.
