Microsoft launches Xbox Mythic Achievements for Insiders as a Platinum-style completion reward

Microsoft is rolling out a new top-tier Xbox completion badge called Mythic Achievements, and the feature is already available for Xbox Insiders to test, as first detailed in coverage from The Verge and also noted by Engadget.

The new system is designed as Xbox’s version of a full-completion reward. Like PlayStation’s Platinum trophies, a Mythic Achievement unlocks after a player earns every original achievement for a game, The Verge reports. Engadget similarly describes it as Xbox’s answer to Sony’s platinum trophy system.

Xbox says the feature is retroactive for eligible games, including older Xbox 360 titles. That means players who already completed all original achievements in supported games may find those titles have already been marked with Mythic status the next time they check their profiles, per The Verge.

New tracking tools in Xbox profiles

Microsoft is also updating the interface around achievements. Xbox profiles will get a new Gaming tab for tracking Mythic Achievements and Gamerscore milestones, The Verge reports. The main achievements screen is also being revised with a progress bar at the top of each game’s list, showing how close a player is to reaching Mythic status and letting them focus on the remaining original achievements still needed.

There may be another visual cue elsewhere in the interface, too. Tom Warren reported in a post on X that Mythic Achievements also appear on game tiles in the Xbox UI, though that detail has not been independently expanded on in the main announcement coverage (X).

A feature that surfaced before launch

The public rollout follows an earlier leak. The Verge reports that Mythic Achievements appeared in the Xbox PC app last week, including a distinct unlock sound. The outlet also notes that Xbox CEO Asha Sharma had previously said Xbox would get a platinum trophy equivalent later this year.
