FakeGit malware campaign reportedly returns with 17,610 malicious GitHub repos

BleepingComputer reports that the FakeGit malware campaign returned with 17,610 malicious GitHub repositories. The outlet says the fake repositories are distributing SmartLoader after the campaign reactivated in October 2026 to push the StealC infostealer.
