    TLDR

Rightway has raised $155 million in Series E financing led by Francisco Partners, with Thrive Capital and Khosla Ventures participating. The company plans to expand the AI and technology behind its pharmacy benefit manager and care-navigation services. Rightway says its PBM charges employers a fixed administrative fee, passes through rebates and does not own pharmacies, positioning the new capital as a bet on a more transparent alternative to traditional pharmacy-benefit economics.

In Rightway’s announcement, the company said it will invest in the AI and technology underlying its pharmacy benefit manager, or PBM. The stated goals include reducing administrative work for pharmacists, identifying lower-cost treatment options earlier and giving employer clients more control over plan design.

    A different PBM revenue model

Rightway presents its model as an alternative to traditional PBMs that can earn revenue from drug-price spreads, pharmacy ownership and rebates. The company says it charges one administrative fee per member, passes every rebate dollar to clients, keeps no spread or dispensing revenue and owns no pharmacies.

It also offers a spending guarantee based on a client’s claims history and projected use. If actual spending exceeds that benchmark, Rightway says it refunds the difference without a cap; if spending is lower, the client keeps the savings.

The company says it now covers millions of members and manages pharmacy benefits for 45 Fortune 500 companies. Those figures and the performance claims in its announcement are company-reported rather than independently audited in the source material.
