At the time, it was more: subdue and control my own citizens, imprison and kill my political opponents, starve, purge, deport, and murder millions of my own people before WWII, completely swallow Eastern European countries I was only supposed to occupy for a few years, and rule them through secret police, propaganda, and fear.
Repress any opposition in blood for decades.
