Setting up our own SearXNG server locally via docker for free and unlimited search is the most logical innovation. The difficulty of dealing with api limits and bills is decreasing day by day. These kinds of innovations that save us from api bills and guide us to local installation are definitely among our favorites <3

Their optimized backends in Hermes Agent (direct clean content pass + local paging for large pages, no redundant steps) are smart agent-specific engineering. Likely delivers real speed/cost wins inside that system.

Your searXNG + self-hosted Firecrawl + Camoufox Docker stack is excellent for privacy, full control, and sovereignty. Camoufox handles stealth well and it works with any local agent. More maintenance, but no lock-in.

Better depends on priorities: integrated performance in Hermes vs maximum self-hosted independence. Both valid. If you're already in the Hermes ecosystem, theirs probably edges it on efficiency. For pure self-sovereignty, stick with the stack.

@NousResearch I've changed the default search tool to Jina search. Does this functionality still exist with that? or does it have to be using the baked in web_search too?
