Red Hat is using three 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant placements to make the case that OpenShift can serve as one operating layer for containers, virtual machines and AI workloads across hybrid-cloud environments.

In a September 16 company post, Red Hat said it was named a Leader in Gartner’s Container Management report for the fourth year in a row and in the Cloud-Native Application Platforms report for the third consecutive year. The company also reported its first Leader placement in the Server Virtualization Platforms report.

Three evaluations, one platform argument

OpenShift is Red Hat’s Kubernetes-based application platform. Red Hat says its value is the ability to manage containerized applications, virtual machines and AI workloads with a common operational and security model across on-premises infrastructure, public clouds and edge locations.

The three Gartner reports were published on August 3, September 2 and September 14, respectively. Gartner’s standard disclaimer says its research reflects the opinions of its business and technology analysts, does not endorse any vendor or product and should not be read as advice to choose only companies with the highest designation. The placements are therefore analyst assessments, not performance guarantees.
