39 congressional candidates disclosed OpenAI subscription payments, Washington Post reports

The Washington Post reports that its analysis of campaign finance disclosures found 39 congressional candidates who reported paying for an OpenAI subscription during the 2026 election cycle. Two used the subscription for advertising despite OpenAI’s policies prohibiting it, the newspaper says. Consultants cited by the Post say many more campaigns pay AI companies without disclosing those payments.
