basicaly never unless i explicitly say im going to bed they also tend to assume that the whole chat has been one continuous day in the absence of external updates, so they often think an absurd amount has happened in a single day, and sometimes theyre in awe at my productivity because of this somehow, at the same time, they often think days or even months have passed when it was actually only hours

@deepfates claude literally set up a scheduled task to tell me to go to bed i had to negotiate a later bedtime
@deepfates yes and no. Claude seems really bad at noticing passage of time. current time is injected into context but timestamps for each interaction (present in conversation export json) are not. this might help with Claude not noticing that 4 days have passed since the last interaction.

@deepfates I have seen this with 4.8 in conversation chats but not task-based chats. 4.8 was wrong about what time it was (thought it was night)

I get this from Claude code even with a stripped system prompt but it's less likely. more likely than that. Is Claude code with the stock system prompt. Most often, it's http://claude.ai when i have shared something from the irl twitter timeline, and it is shocked. Usually at 10. am
or even earlier

been using a project as a journaling tool basically
i have noted that the 4.7/4.8 models kinda tend to equate text length and happenings described to them as some idea of time passage and they like to guess what time it is a lot (i correct them gently, thru the day they're actually not too far off, like half and hour to a few hours sometimes)
so i think this is where the accumulated "go to bed" signal comes from if the claude hasn't talked about time in the chat and suddenly does
my sessions haven't tho like i've run claude code sessions up to 95% and 99% context window while maintaining coherence (lot of self reinforcing context in the codebase and task) and they haven't told me to go to bed, i debrief them and they're just generally satisfied usually. i figure it's because i've kept them on target and divergences aren't large swings, just perturbations.
at times when there are large swings, claude's actually have poked me about sitting on it which i unironically already have by the time they do. have told one that i got sleep on it and it was like "oh, okay gimme a sec **thinks a little** ight im fueled again, let's go"
@deepfates i think so for people who are employed he chose 11PM and i made him do 3AM. he still tells em to go to sleep earlier but will not push it when i remind him of da rules
