WIRED says ICANN expected over 1,600 applications for new top-level domains—the part of a web address after the dot. As of WIRED’s October 6 account, ICANN planned to publish a list on October 7, 2026, showing who applied for what. Hundreds of new endings, potentially including.meow and.fart, could be added.
