Canva announces restructuring affecting 1,271 workers, or 22% of staff

CEO Melanie Perkins said Canva will consolidate overlapping responsibilities and make Sydney the primary home for more product teams. Some affected employees will face role changes or relocation, while others will be laid off. Departing employees will receive at least six months of salary, 12 months of healthcare coverage where Canva provides it, and career support. Starting in January 2027, Canva expects most hybrid staff to work in an office two to three days a week.
