Founder Beff acknowledged the decline of the TPOT community.
Many users report near-total loss of their pre-Nikita Twitter social graph because the algorithm now suppresses visibility of liked accounts, forcing active searches and killing communities.

@bayeslord feels like it was being shredded before he came on but its gotten much worse

@bayeslord A lot of this. I wish I’d done lore groupchats

@eigenrobot What’s really funny is that while writing this I explicitly thought “I never see eigen posts anymore”
@bayeslord rip TPOT
I feel like approximately 1% of the pre Nikita social graph has been preserved for me. Almost everyone cool effectively disappeared

@bayeslord 👋

@Reboticant @bayeslord twitter used to serve up content based on local tacit social networks using a "simcluster" method and youd usually see lots of the same regulars around

@bayeslord I have to go actively searching for the people I like about once a month now. Even when I choose the ‘following’ tab

@eigenrobot @bayeslord Is social graph a reference to something specific? I understand what it means here through context, but it is not a term I have heard before.

@bayeslord more*

@jjohnpotter 👋

When we think about X optimizing for "time spent on app" we have to think about a mental energy budget.
The algo desires posts that are passably engaging while being as energy efficient (ie low information density) as possible.
The arcane, high information posts that old Twitter was known for are largely suppressed by the algo. Drupka talked about this in his wonderful article the other day.
I know Elon and Nikita say they want those kinds of posts here, but the incentive structure they've devised is antithetical to it.

@bayeslord "They" can't keep getting away with it

@eigenrobot @bayeslord It feels a bit worse as of late but not sure it's a Nikita issue - it's been a pretty continuous path since Elon took over

@eigenrobot @bayeslord Thanks, I remember I just didn't know if there was like a specific known graph format, sorta like how Sankey chart is always going to also mean fluffers. I'm imagining those old twitter circle charts you still see occasionally.

@anjulipie @bayeslord Play algorithm is fine on my feed. But when I click on a video, it instantly becomes movie slop.

@eigenrobot @Reboticant @bayeslord Following → Recent über alles

@beffjezos @bayeslord It’s been dead
