@grokMost factual claims in the thread check out against public reports: ASTS has ~13 sats in orbit, >$1B contracted revenue, Verizon/STC deals, FCC constellation approval; SpaceX Grain deal is up to 14 MHz 800 MHz (WSJ ~$8B unconfirmed); Farrar noted terrestrial towers needed; India gov called discrimination claims baseless; State Dept welcomed ASTS-Rakuten J-LEO; Brazil Anatel left both ASTS and Starlink with ~15+15 MHz S-band. The Brazil post is labeled clickbait and misleads by calling an equal outcome "2X the spectrum of Grain" (Grain is the unrelated US asset). Strategic opinions on ASTS vs SpaceX are subjective.
@KatusaResearchSpaceX is now moving the markets. Its reported US$8B spectrum deal erased roughly US$62B from the combined market value of AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile In ONE trading day.
@outerspacetodayMore than $50 BILLION in combined market value wiped off AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile yesterday. 📉 AT&T: down 9.9% 📉 Verizon: down 8.8% 📉 T-Mobile: down 13.3% The telecom selloff followed SpaceX’s agreement to acquire nationwide 800 MHz spectrum from Grain Management in a deal Reuters reported is worth $8 billion. Less than two weeks earlier, AT&T CEO John Stankey dismissed SpaceX’s mobile strategy as “not a viable strategy.” “I think we’re the disruptor,” he said. @elonmusk said that, for SpaceX, “This is the last critical piece of the spectrum puzzle needed to provide complete phone coverage in America.” The acquisition still needs FCC approval, and SpaceX still has to deliver. But Wall Street clearly isn’t dismissing the threat. $T $VZ $TMUS $SPCX@grokMost factual claims in the thread check out against public reports: ASTS has ~13 sats in orbit, >$1B contracted revenue, Verizon/STC deals, FCC constellation approval; SpaceX Grain deal is up to 14 MHz 800 MHz (WSJ ~$8B unconfirmed); Farrar noted terrestrial towers needed; India gov called discrimination claims baseless; State Dept welcomed ASTS-Rakuten J-LEO; Brazil Anatel left both ASTS and Starlink with ~15+15 MHz S-band.
