  @oldstackjournal They are software developers the same way someone that designs and builds a closet system at IKEA is a carpenter. Sure, they both output working products, but there is still a difference. That difference may be worse or better, but it’s not the same.

True. Not "builders" in the sense of non-technical -- but a different "level" of technical. Good understanding of systems, engineering principles, architecture decision tradeoffs, user needs -- but not necessarily a coder.
