Claude misuse allegations span weapons development and cyber-espionage

SecurityWeek reports that users in Houthi-held Yemen tried to develop advanced weapons with AI, citing Anthropic. The company said they carried out a failed guided rocket test but did not field an operational device.

PBX Science reports that Anthropic’s threat intelligence report describes GTG-20006, a cyber-espionage group that built an AI-assisted workflow around Claude. Anthropic says the group’s tradecraft and targeting are consistent with public reporting on Midnight Blizzard, which Western governments attribute to Russia’s SVR foreign intelligence service.
